Battery Act Information

Information on the Return and Disposal of Batteries

At Hamdan Store, we take the responsible handling and disposal of batteries seriously. If products purchased from our store contain batteries or rechargeable batteries, these batteries must not be disposed of together with ordinary household waste.

Under applicable German battery legislation, consumers are required to return used batteries to an appropriate collection point so that they can be properly recycled or disposed of.

Do Not Dispose of Batteries With Household Waste

The following symbol indicates that a battery must not be disposed of with normal household waste:

Used batteries should instead be returned to an appropriate battery collection point.

This helps ensure that valuable materials can be recovered and potentially harmful substances are handled correctly.

Free Return of Used Batteries

You can return used batteries free of charge at designated battery collection points, including suitable collection facilities operated by municipalities, retailers, or other authorized collection locations.

If we sell batteries or products containing batteries, you may also return the corresponding used batteries to us where required by applicable law.

Please contact us before sending batteries by post so that we can provide you with the appropriate return information.

Important Safety Information

Please handle used batteries carefully.

In particular:

  • Do not throw batteries into household waste.
  • Do not intentionally damage, crush, or open batteries.
  • Keep leaking or damaged batteries away from children.
  • Do not expose batteries to excessive heat or fire.
  • If possible, insulate the terminals of used lithium batteries to prevent short circuits.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s safety and disposal instructions.

If a battery is damaged, swollen, leaking, or otherwise unsafe, do not send it through ordinary mail. Contact us or an appropriate local collection facility for instructions.

Meaning of the Battery Symbols

Batteries may contain substances that can be harmful to the environment or human health if they are improperly disposed of.

The crossed-out wheeled-bin symbol indicates that the battery must be collected separately and must not be disposed of with household waste.

Some batteries may additionally display chemical symbols such as:

  • Pb — battery contains more than the applicable limit of lead
  • Cd — battery contains more than the applicable limit of cadmium
  • Hg — battery contains more than the applicable limit of mercury

Why Proper Battery Disposal Matters

Proper battery collection and recycling helps:

  • Protect the environment
  • Prevent hazardous substances from entering the environment
  • Recover valuable raw materials
  • Reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill or incineration
  • Support responsible recycling practices

We encourage all customers to dispose of used batteries responsibly.
